The moment of truth. Compete a good fight for a progressive Aklan.

It has only been three months since oneAklan was officially launched.  And by Gods’ grace, oneAklan Want Aklan together with the provincial government has been nominated and won 2nd place overall in the Province category for the Best in eGOV Systems for Global Competitiveness (G2W) during the prestigious Awards Night entitled digitalcitiesPH Awards Best Practices in eGovernance for LGUs held in Philippine International Convention Center – Roxas Boulevard, Manila last October 12, 2018.

The award-giving body was organized by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), having 65 official entries, 36 LGUs, and 17 awards that made it through under tough screening process from among many participants across the nation who sent their entries. After that was a thorough judging from a great panel of judges, mentors, and critics thus, oneAklan considered it as one great breakthrough receiving the award for the province of Aklan.

“oneAklan just started from a vision of helping all entrepreneurs in Aklan who were affected with the Boracay closure, and providing them new opportunities to market their products digitally rather than the traditional physical stores. It’s truly an honor to be given this recognition. The heart to serve will always be the same. To God be all the glory!,” said Heinz Militar the Founder and Senior Developer of oneAklan.

Representing the Province of Aklan in the Awards Night were Ms. Gabrielle “Billie” Calizo-Quimpo, our former Vice-Governor and now Consultant to the Governor of Aklan on Trade and Tourism and Mr. Marsh Bernabe, Project Development Officer II/ LEIPO Designate. They spearhead the Aklan ICT Council and are both active supporters of the oneAklan wantAklan Project. Also together with the team was the mind behind oneAklan, Mr. Clarke Nebrao, the mentor of Mr. Militar throughout the Kapatid Mentor Me Program. Both of them worked together from conceptualization to implementation of this project. Of course, Mr. Heinz Militar and Ms. Jocyl Militar represented Selah Studio for this momentous event.

The honored speakers of the night were Mr. Dave Almaring, President and CEO of Philippine International Trading Corporation who represented SAP Secretary Bong Go and Senator Sonny Angara, one of the staunch supporters of the country’s ICT Industry.

This honor and recognition is indeed an eye opener for the province of Aklan and its people that we are in the verge of a more progressive province in this digital evolution through this online platform. Congratulations to oneAklan, the Provincial Government of Aklan, Aklan ICT Council, and Selah Studio for this milestone of breakthrough. Indeed, this is just the beginning of a new journey and marks new challenges for the province to run through. Aklan is now ready to embrace the online and digital movement today.
