The moment of truth. Compete a good fight for a progressive Aklan.
It has only been three months since oneAklan was officially launched. And by Gods’ grace, oneAklan Want Aklan together with the provincial government has been nominated and won 2nd place overall in the category Provinces’ Best in eGOV Systems for Global Competitiveness (G2W) during the prestigious Awards Night entitled digitalcitiesPH Awards Best Practices in eGovernance for LGUs held in Philippine International Convention Center – Roxas Boulevard, Manila last October 12, 2018.
The award giving body was brought by The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), having 65 official entries, 36 LGUs, and 17 awards that made it through under tough screening process from among many participants across the nation who sent their entries in this cordial event. After that was a thorough judging from a great panel of judges, mentors, and critics thus, oneAklan considered it as one great breakthrough receiving the award for the province of Aklan.
” We are just a start up for this which has just started from a vision coming from the heart to help all entrepreneurs in Aklan who has been affected after Boracay closure, and this project initiative is not just for the business establishments and MSMEs of the province, but it’s about serving the people and our very own Aklanon. It’s truly an honor to be given this recognition. The heart to serve will always be the same. To God be all the glory!”, said Heinz Militar the Founder and Senior Developer of oneAklan.
Together with him in this grand awarding ceremony is Marsh Bernabe, the Project Development Officer II/ LEIPO Designate – Aklan ICT Council who initiated to made an entry for this event and one of the partners for this project, also with Gabrielle “Billie” Calizo-Quimpo, Consultant on Tourism and Trade of the Province of Aklan ICT Council who gave full support for this collaborative effort for this project, and Heinz beautiful wife, Jocyls Militar who’s also an entrepreneur and owner of Jocyl’s Food; all in a traditional Filipino Barong and Filipiniana attire. The award was given by Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara; one of the guest speakers during the Awards Night.
This honor and recognition is indeed an eye opener for the province of Aklan and its people that we are in the verge of a more progressive and province in this digital evolution through this online platform. Congratulations to oneAklan, the Provincial Government of Aklan, Aklan ICT Council, and Selah Studio for this milestone of breakthrough is the beginning for another challenge and a journey for the province to run through. For Aklan is now ready to embrace the online and digital movement today.
